On June 17 and 18, 2023, during the trip to Vung Liem district (Vinh Long), the Be Better’s charity group organized a Mentorship program for about 300 12th-grade students at Hieu Phung Senior High School and Hieu Nhon Senior-Junior High School.
In the program, Mr. Tony Tinh and Mr. Lim Chor Ghee shared their life lessons to encourage the students to strive for a better future. The aim was to equip them with the right mindset for life.

Besides, the Be Better Foundation continued to interview students in especially difficult circumstances to find those who deserve to receive the “Change the Future” scholarship.
Some children were born in unfortunate circumstances. Some are orphans; some live with their grandparents who struggle to make ends meet due to their old age, and some have parents who suffer from serious illnesses or disabilities. The families of these children experience many financial difficulties because no adults can earn a stable income. However, the children never feel miserable. When asked: “Have you ever resented your life?”, none of the students said yes, claiming they had received lots of help and love from their relatives.
Answering the same question, one student wrote: “Honestly, I did resent my life. I wonder why my life has been so harsh.” He is not only poor but also miserable. He thinks he is a burden as he was born of a sexual assault act on his mother. As a result, everybody in his family disapproved of him except his mother, who loved and took care of him unconditionally. However, his beloved mother, the only person who truly loved him, died of cancer and left him alone. He told us he had considered dropping out of school many times. However, had it not been for the support and encouragement from his teachers, friends, and benefactors, he would not finish senior high school now.
At one school, the teachers gave the Be Better Foundation a list of around 10 12th-grade students who might drop out of school because of their circumstances. According to statistics, in the 2021-2022 school year, Vietnam had 26,000 senior high schools. If every school has 10 12th-grade students dropping out of school, it will result in thousands of students who are unable to pursue higher education.
As the Foundation’s resources are still limited, in every trip, we have to consider each student’s circumstances carefully to grant scholarships to the ones in need the most. If this situation remains unchanged, we may not be able to maintain our long-term support projects.
The Be Better Foundation hopes that our benefactors will continue to support, tell more people about the Foundation, and join hands with us to ensure more students can have a better future.
