Today, Be Better Foundation is honored to share a special story, a remarkable milestone in our journey of “Change the Future Scholarship.” This is the story of Thanh Tam – one of the children supported by our foundation – who has officially graduated from Ho Chi Minh University of Banking, majoring in International Economics.
Looking back at Tam’s journey, we cannot help but feel deeply moved. From a young girl burdened with worries beyond her years, she has now turned to a new chapter in life – mature, resilient, and full of hope.
“Tam grew up in an incredibly challenging situation as her family faced major hardships. Her father passed away in 2021, leaving her mother – the sole breadwinner – struggling with bile duct cancer. The family had almost no stable income, and Tam had to work as a tutor to cover daily expenses and take care of her mother and younger sister.
During those dark days, when it seemed like the dream of attending university was slipping away, Be Better Foundation learned about Tam’s story. With the ‘Change the Future’ scholarship, she received financial support for four years of university. But beyond material aid, the greatest gift was the belief and motivation that the scholarship brought, as Tam herself once shared:
‘Thanks to Be Better Foundation, I was not only able to overcome my biggest challenges but also found the confidence to keep moving forward. The Mentorship sessions helped me redefine myself, understand what I truly wanted, and how to achieve it. I am deeply grateful for what the Foundation has given me, not just for myself but also for my family.’
Today, Tam is no longer the little girl burdened with worries. Through her relentless efforts and the foundation’s support, she has graduated with excellent results. She is now working as an export business executive at a ceramics company while also teaching English part-time to enhance her skills and personal development. Notably, through the foundation’s connections with benefactors, Tam had the opportunity to study IELTS at a sponsored center and achieved a 7.0 – a dream she had long aspired to reach.
Beyond just receiving support, Tam has returned to contribute to the foundation as a translation collaborator. Quietly supporting behind the scenes, she helps translate documents and content to assist the foundation’s activities. To Tam, this is not just a way to express gratitude but also a way to spread kindness and support other young individuals facing hardships, just as she once did.
Reflecting on her journey, Tam shared:
‘I, Thanh Tam, would like to send my deepest thanks to Uncle Tinh and the generous benefactors who have walked this journey with me. Thanks to your support, I was able to overcome hardships and gain the strength to confidently pursue my education. I hope to continue being part of the foundation in the years ahead, contributing in any way I can to support the next generation of children.’
