Mentorship was never designed to find out who is the smartest in the room, nor to count how many questions a student answers correctly. What matters far more is what happens along the way — whether young minds learn to think for themselves, to examine a problem all the way to its root, and to speak with honesty about what they truly believe.
The “Knowledge Champion” contest at Hoang Thai Hieu High School made that truth unmistakably clear. It had been quite some time since the program last found a champion who was genuinely, compellingly convincing. But what strengthened Be Better’s faith was not any single individual — it was the quality of thinking on display across so many students: layered, reasoned, grounded in personal observation and lived experience. At their age, the ability to look at life not only through feeling, but through analysis and conscious reflection, is something truly worth cherishing.
For Be Better, this is the very heart of Mentorship. Not to make students “better than others,” but to help them understand themselves, understand the world they live in, and stand firmly enough on their own two feet to make choices that are truly their own. The moment a young person begins to ask questions, to think critically, and to take ownership of their own ideas — that is when the real journey of growing up begins.
🙏 Be Better Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Principal, faculty, and staff of Hoang Thai Hieu High School for their trust and their partnership. And to the students — thank you for showing us a generation that knows how to think, how to listen, and how to speak with conviction.
Be Better believes that if these young people continue to carry that spirit of learning and reflection with them, then the road ahead — however demanding it may be — will be a road they can walk on their own terms, with steadiness and with grace. 💙
