Nha An’s family consists of four members, with her father being the sole breadwinner. Her mother suffers from schizophrenia and receives a monthly allowance of about 1 million VND from the government. Her father’s income from day labor is unstable, earning between 200,000 to 300,000 VND on days when work is available. Meanwhile, Nha An’s younger brother is in seventh grade, and all the family’s living expenses, as well as the education costs for both children, rely entirely on her father’s modest earnings. Once a relatively well-off family, they fell into poverty and debt after a major incident caused by her father that wiped out their assets. Her mother, overwhelmed by the emotional and psychological toll, developed her illness. Recognizing her dire situation, the teachers at her school generously came together to cover her expenses throughout her three years of high school.
Now, as Nha An dreams of pursuing higher education in Translation and Interpretation, she faces financial obstacles that make this dream seem distant. Her mother remains her greatest motivation – Nha An is a devoted daughter who aspires to ease her father’s burdens, care for her mother, and be a pillar of support for her younger brother. With the opportunity to continue her studies, her future could hold endless possibilities. Through relentless effort and determination, Nha An has achieved a significant milestone: she has been accepted into the Chinese Language program at Van Hien University. This marks a promising turning point in her journey, paving the way for a brighter future.
