Truong Quang Nhut was born into a poor family and has had to face many hardships; therefore, his young shoulders have to carry great burdens. His mother suffers from nasopharyngeal cancer and is no longer able to work. His father is the family’s main breadwinner; however, with unstable physical health, he frequently experiences back pain after years of heavy lifting. Hence, his income is inconsistent, with some months offering no job at all.
In addition, Nhut’s family also cares for his elderly grandparents. His paternal grandmother is paralyzed on one side due to a stroke and is completely dependent on others for daily activities. His grandfather, diagnosed with lung cancer, passed away without receiving treatment due to the family’s financial constraints.
During the most difficult times, all living and medical expenses fell on his father’s shoulders. Facing such dire circumstances, Nhut shared that he once struggled with overwhelming thoughts and fell into a state of depression. He would cry alone in his room, feeling as if everything had collapsed. Yet, from that pain, he came to understand one thing: only through education could he change his life, support his parents, and overcome adversity.
Nhut has quietly persevered. He performs well across subjects, with a particular strength in the sciences. In his senior year, his average scores in Math, Physics, and Chemistry all exceeded 8.0. With a strong passion for mechatronics, he is always curious, observant, and eager to explore machines and mechanical tools. After extensive research into the field he loves, Nhut was accepted into the major of Manufacturing Engineering Technology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry.
Be Better Foundation believes that with his unwavering determination and clear passion, Nhut will stay steadfast on the path he has chosen to transform his own life and become the pillar of strength for the family he has lovingly carried from a very young age.
