Le Thi Nhu Quynh grew up under challenging circumstances with the only care from her mother after her father abandoned the family when she was very young. Her mother is a strong and resourceful woman who has worked tirelessly, running a small crab noodle soup stall at the market. This tough job has been the main source of income to raise the two of them over the years.
Thanks to a loan from Quynh’s aunt (her mother’s sister), they now have a roof over their heads. However, her mother is now in her sixties, and her health is deteriorating. She depends on both traditional and Western medicine to sustain herself and continues working long hours, often from late night into the early morning. The stall’s income is no longer stable, as market conditions have become more difficult. On top of that, they must make monthly payments on the house loan, making Quynh’s path to higher education increasingly uncertain. At times, the financial pressure has made her consider quitting school to help support her mother.
Despite these hardships, Nhu Quynh is a kind-hearted young girl with a deep desire to give back through charity and helping others. She is also quick-witted, intelligent, and an outstanding student.
Nhu Quynh is now a freshman majoring in Biotechnology at Can Tho University. Be Better Foundation believes that with her determination to change her future through education and knowledge, Quynh will become a strong support for her aging mother. Moreover, with her compassionate heart and dedication to learning, she will grow into a valuable member of society who spreads kindness and hope to those less fortunate.
