Among the many worries facing Vi Hao’s family, the greatest is that they do not even have their own stable home; all five family members live in his paternal grandparents’ house. Hao’s mother is the primary breadwinner, working as a laborer and earning around 5 million VND per month, covering both family expenses and the school costs for her two eldest children. Hao’s father, despite his efforts to find steady work, faces uncertain employment, taking on any available jobs to supplement the family’s income. This modest income must support three children: Vi Hao, the eldest, is about to enter university; his younger sister, is still in school; and their youngest sibling has just turned one year old.
Understanding his family’s financial struggles, Hao and his sister earn extra income by weighing sacks for relatives, earning 10,000 VND for each 25-kilogram sack. Although this may seem minor to others, it has been a significant help for Hao over the years, providing much-needed support.
Despite these challenges, Hao has never lost sight of his dream of becoming a translator. He continues to work hard every day to gain admission to the English Language program at Can Tho University.
In 2024, Vi Hao’s perseverance paid off as he reached a pivotal milestone—he became a freshman in the English Language program at Can Tho University. This marks the start of a promising future for Vi Hao, and the Be Better Foundation believes that with his determination, resilience, and capabilities, he will achieve great success on the path he has chosen.
