Kim Hang is a deeply filial girl growing up in a family where the burden of livelihood and responsibility increasingly weighs on the younger generation. Her parents are nearing 60 and no longer physically healthy enough to work. Her father, a former construction worker, suffered a rib fracture in a scaffolding accident, which significantly weakened his health and made it difficult for him to find stable employment. Her mother, also in poor health, stays at home as a homemaker.
On top of that, they also take care of Hang’s second sister and niece. Her sister is divorced and has a child of preschool age. She is unable to work due to hypocalcemia-induced seizures, so both of them entirely depend on their aging parents. Hang’s second sister has graduated and now works as an accountant at the commune level, but her monthly salary of only VND 4 million (about USD 152) must cover most of the household expenses. Considering this financial strain, Hang sometimes wonders whether she could continue her education.
Despite the difficult circumstances and immense pressure, Hang has never lost her determination. She holds tightly to her dream of rising above poverty through education, hoping to build a better life not just for herself, but for her entire family. She has recently been admitted into the Accounting program at Tay Do University.
Be Better Foundation believes that with her unwavering devotion to her family and a strong desire to improve their lives, Hang truly deserves our support to pursue her dream.
