Born and raised in a rural area of Vinh Long province, Ngoc Tram’s life has been marked by hardship and abandonment from the very beginning. Her parents divorced before she was even born, and when she was just two months old, her mother left her as well. Ngoc Tram has never known her father’s face or her mother’s embrace. Instead, she grew up in the love and care of her grandmother. Her grandmother worked hard to save what little she could to send Tram to school, but age eventually took its toll, and her grandmother passed away, leaving Ngoc Tram to face the world alone once more. Now, Ngoc Tram lives with her uncle, but she must work part-time to cover her living expenses and school fees. While her peers enjoy their summer breaks filled with fun and relaxation, Tram spends her days working as a waitress, earning just 15,000 VND per hour—a wage she scrupulously saves to make ends meet. When Tram was in sixth grade, her mother returned to find her, but life has been no easier for her mother, who earns only 5 million VND per month as a factory worker and can provide only a few hundred thousand VND to support Tram’s meals. Without the help of generous benefactors, the dream of higher education might have remained out of reach for Tram. Every act of kindness and support brings her closer to achieving her dreams, serving as a bridge that keeps her in school and fuels her aspiration of becoming a teacher. Despite her struggles, Tram possesses a heart full of compassion and a desire to help others even in her toughest times.
Faced with numerous opportunities and life-changing decisions after receiving the “Change the Future” scholarship, Ngoc Tram has chosen to unlock her potential and follow her passion in the culinary arts. She is now pursuing professional training in culinary skills at the Asian-European Vocational Training and Career Orientation School. While this choice might not seem the most conventional or prestigious to some, only Ngoc Tram truly understands that it is the path she desires most. She is determined to give it her all, creating a brighter future for herself and her family through her passion and perseverance.
