When Phuong was just a small child, his father passed away, leaving the entire burden on his mother’s shoulders. Ever since, she has been working tirelessly in Saigon, washing dishes and waiting tables at a wholesale market to earn money and send it back for Phuong and his two younger siblings to go to school. While their mother worked far from home, the three children were raised by their grandmother, now over 80 years old and no longer in good health. At present, Phuong is the only child in the family who is still able to pursue his education. His two younger siblings had to stop schooling at a very early age due to developmental challenges and incomplete cognitive abilities. Aware of his circumstances, Phuong fully understands the responsibility he carries for his family’s future. However, given the weight of his current situation, pursuing higher education as a way to change his life is a daunting journey.
Phuong dreams of studying economic law at the University of Economics and Law, striving to one day become the family’s breadwinner in place of his mother—taking care of her, his grandmother, and his siblings so they can all live a better life. More than that, he hopes that in the future, he can contribute to helping others in difficult situations, offering them a brighter future as well.
In 2023, Phuong was admitted to the Business Administration program at the University of Economics – Vinh Long Campus. Believing it was his only available path forward, he enrolled and became a student, leaving behind his dream of studying Law. But over time, he realized he was not suited for economics or business. His passion for Law was reignited—stronger and more persistent than ever. In 2024, Phuong made a bold decision to try once more and apply to the University of Economics and Law.
With all his determination and burning ambition, Phuong triumphed—earning admission into his first-choice major: Financial and Banking Law at the University of Economics and Law, Ho Chi Minh City.
