The situation of Tạ Gia Mẫn - Be Better Foundation

The situation of Tạ Gia Mẫn

My family lives in poverty, with four people cramped in temporary rented rooms, without a home or land of our own. My father sells lottery tickets every day, while my mother is unemployed and takes on sewing work at home to make a living. My younger sister, a 9th-grade student, was born with a congenital heart condition, which means that most of our family’s meager income goes toward medication and basic living expenses.

Family situation

Gia Man’s family has long struggled with poverty, living in cramped, makeshift rental rooms with no house or land to call their own. His father sells lottery tickets daily, while his mother, currently unemployed, takes on sewing work from home to make ends meet. His younger sister, a ninth grader, was born with a congenital heart condition, forcing the family to allocate most of their meager income to medical expenses and basic necessities.

When the Be Better Foundation visited their home, Gia Man’s father had just returned from selling lottery tickets. His frail frame and deeply lined face, marked by the burdens of providing for his family, were a heart-wrenching sight. Despite his hardships, he deeply wished for Gia Man to continue his education, knowing all too well the struggles of a life without schooling. Yet, the constant worry over tuition fees and an uncertain future weighed heavily on his mind.

Thanks to the encouragement of the Be Better Foundation and Gia Man’s unwavering determination to pursue his studies, his parents found renewed hope. They wholeheartedly agreed to support his education, signing a commitment with the Foundation – nurturing not just his future, but the dreams of their entire family.
