The struggles of a family aren’t solely defined by whether they hold a poverty or near-poverty certificate. At its core, hardship is often a series of unending challenges and untold stories.
Kim Ngoc’s father passed away before she could even speak her first words. Since then, her mother has remained single, dedicating her life to raising Kim Ngoc and her younger brother. For over a decade, her mother has worked tirelessly as a factory worker, using her modest income to provide for her children’s education while covering the living expenses of a household with five mouths to feed: herself, Kim Ngoc, her brother, and Ngoc’s grandparents.
Now in their seventies, her grandparents have yet to enjoy a peaceful retirement. Every day, they continue to toil in their small garden, which requires immense effort for little return. Fruits and vegetables are slow to grow, and when they’re finally ready for market, they sell for only a modest amount. Yet for her grandparents and the family, those earnings are a significant lifeline.
Carrying her dreams of a brighter future, Kim Ngoc has proudly become a Marketing student at Cuu Long University. Be Better believes that over the course of her four years of study, Kim Ngoc will grow even stronger and more resilient—a determined young woman ready to take on the world and transform her life.
