Some hardships are too heavy to put into words, and others stem from a seemingly endless cycle of effort without visible improvement. This is the reality for Tran Van Len’s family, caught in the grip of such challenges.
Van Len’s parents divorced when he was very young, leaving him and his two siblings in his father’s care. His eldest sister had to leave her education unfinished and now works as a factory laborer in Binh Duong, earning a modest 5 million VND per month, with little prospect for advancement. His youngest sister is just in second grade. Since the divorce, all three siblings have relied on their father, who, despite his deep love for his children, has had no choice but to rely on his low-paying job transporting goods, earning less than 7 million VND per month for many years. This work has been his way of trying to provide his children with a chance at a better future. Yet, years of hard labor have taken their toll on his health, and now, the family’s future rests on Van Len’s shoulders, his path to a brighter life lying solely in his pursuit of education.
In the face of these difficulties, Van Len hopes that education will be his gateway to changing his family’s circumstances.
