You may wonder why we have chosen to reach highlands and remote areas for charity. Can’t we see the difficulties faced by families and children around us? The reason is that in those remote areas where little is known, we have found so many miserable lives. Lots of children and elderly people even lack blankets or warm clothes. A great number of families live gloomily in slums that fail to protect them from bad weather. Numerous children go to school without pens, books, or notebooks, while their daily meals include just rice and salt or some insects they can dig for. Some children even have no chance to go to school at all. You cannot hold back your feelings if you see their situation with your own eyes.
After each trip, we – members of the Be Better Foundation – have only one wish: to store up enough charm to spread out the spirit of giving away as much as possible. Each trip encourages our hearts to keep reaching the disadvantaged, as we know many people in extreme hardship around Vietnam still wish for support. However, we cannot fulfill that mission without the community’s contribution.
If each person donates VND 20,000 each day, 10,000 people will together contribute VND 200,000,000 per day (with which we can buy food for 2,000 children for 5 days). Then we can reach a donation of VND 6 billion per month (with which we can buy food for 10,000 children for 30 days).
After one year of maintaining such modest donations, we can create a lot of positive changes for a great many lives. More children will have enough meals. More families will have safe shelter. More students will have scholarships. And many other charity activities can find their way to families in remote and mountainous areas.
