On May 21, Tony Tinh and his company’s staff awarded scholarships to 200 poor students overcoming difficulties in Vinh Long Province, partially supporting them to pass the college-university enrollment exam. The program was organized with a budget of up to VND 100 million.
Regrets regarding unfinished dreams
Born and raised in Vinh Long, Tony Tinh witnessed many cases of high school students dropping out of school and even dropping out of university exams because of difficult family circumstances. Tony himself had to work very hard to pursue an education because of his father’s disability; the family’s income depended on selling tofu.
Tony said that although the university is not the only path to success, it opens up many opportunities. That is why Tony and his family always try to maintain tuition-supporting activities to encourage students not to give up the opportunity to enter university. The scale of the scholarship program is getting bigger, reaching more disadvantaged people. That is also the reason Tony continues to organize the scholarship program “I Hope You Go to University” for poor students in Vinh Long Province.
200 scholarships “Wish You Go to University”
The scholarship-awarding ceremony took place at two schools: Binh Minh High School (Binh Minh Town) and Tan Quoi High School (Binh Tan District). At each location, there was participation from students from many neighboring high schools. In total, the scholarship-awarding ceremony supported students from six different schools:
The program has awarded 200 scholarships, each worth VND 500,000, to partially support students’ travel and living expenses for the upcoming university and college entrance exams. Although it is not a large amount of money, the scholarships will set families and students themselves more firmly on their educational path.

Talking about this volunteer activity, Tony said that the motivation for him to build a career is to change the future of his family and contribute to his homeland. He stated, “I hope you will not give up on the education and opportunities ahead of you. Just try to overcome all difficulties like I did many years ago to find a bright future for yourself and your family.”

Speaking at the scholarship-awarding ceremony, Tony’s father could not help but feel moved when he remembered his orphaned childhood.
Unfortunate circumstances left him half-paralyzed. Despite the difficult circumstances, Mr. Sau raised his children to be human and continued to actively contribute to local charity activities. Singing a few chants full of optimism and generosity in the spirit of the South Vietnamese, Mr. Sau reminded all students that despite difficult circumstances, they should not give up, because if they do, the future will never change. A bright future is waiting.
