“New Year for you”
The scholarship program “New Year for you” was organized in 2018 by a volunteer group of Mr. Tran Van Tinh in Ninh Quoi Commune, Hong Dan District, Bac Lieu Province.

On February 10, 2018, as New Year’s Day approached, everywhere, every family was bustling in the atmosphere of Tet. Volunteer group of Mr. Tran Van Tinh moved to Ninh Quoi Commune, Hong Dan District, Bac Lieu Province in the expectation of 150 poor students there.
With a total budget of 150 million VND, the “New Year for you” program has awarded 150 scholarships to students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. With this money, Mr. Tony wishes to give support, although it is not much, to disadvantaged children, helping them lead fuller and more dignified Tet holidays.
Regarding the reason for doing charity on Tet holiday, Mr. Tran Van Tinh (Tony Tinh) said, “Tet is an opportunity for the family to gather and clean the house. The other houses are spacious. My house is short of money. The rain outside has flooded it. The food is not enough, so there is no joy in celebrating Tet. Depressed and disappointed during the Tet holiday, many families after Tet force their children to leave school to help support their families. Students who are old enough to think about Tet like this are also discouraged. They want to stay at home to help their families and often leave school after Tet”.
This small amount is given with the intention of bringing to children and their families some hope, and fulfilling Tet season’s spirit by encouraging the parents not to force their students quit school after Tet holiday.
At the meeting, Tony said that the main purpose of the trip was not to give this small amount of money to the children but to “create motivation, faith and hope for the children to strive to learn and become good people, talented people, people who are useful to society in the future.”
Tony also shared that he sold lottery tickets and tofu as a child, thereby motivating the children to overcome difficulties in life to pursue their studies: “If you don’t graduate from high school, you won’t be able to do anything. They have to think about how later they grow up, become grandparents, travel around five continents and four pools and return to help their homeland.”

Witnessing the joy of the children and their families, the members of the delegation could not help but feel moved. With a desire to bring a prosperous New Year to the people of Ninh Quoi commune as well as create motivation for children to study in the future, the program has been and is the foundation for the upcoming Tony charity fund.

Parents are divorced, 2 children live with their mother, the mother’s health is weak, she works as a hired laborer but cannot pay for her 2 children’s education. 2 children have to work part-time to pay for their own meals, accommodation, and school fees. The situation is very difficult.
2nd charity football tournament “My shoes on the field – your shoes to school”
“My shoes on the field – your shoes to school” is an association football tournament for companies and benefactors. It is held by the Be Better Foundation with the purpose of raising fund to buy shoes for poor students in remote areas.

Every day in highland and remote areas, hundreds and thousands of children require eating, studying, and growing up to be good people who benefit society.
